For those with the time and means for travel I highly recommend an extended trip to Ireland for it’s scenic vistas and rich history. Be assured, you won’t be disappointed!
While trying to find inspiration for this latest blog post I was stricken with a double dose of both apathy and general lethargy. No word from experts when this dire condition may ease so please accept this humble offering for your review.,,
I can’t speak for anyone else but ever since the pandemic started there seems to be an over abundance of time each and every day. My schedule hasn’t greatly changed since before all this so the explanation requires further analysis.
Personally, it may simply be the lack of outdoor painting that has everything thrown off. Tried to create an indoor strategy but nothing seemed to take hold. Been trying my hand at photography with my trusted iPhone but there’s likely an official limit to how many pictures we’re allowed to take of a single tree or chair. Social media has proven there’s no such limit on selfies.
So I continue my quest to be a productive member of society or at least the household. At this point I may have to pass time photographing other people’s trees.
In a never ending quest to discover new creative directions I’ve been known to depart in any number of ways. May I present a prime example –
Anyone who has visited Budapest, Hungary or done any research will be very familiar with the city’s fascination with sculpture. You simply cannot travel far without encountering a new piece on public display.
A trip to the shoreline will bring you to several examples enjoyed by a multitude of people every year.
I could get into the entire history of the example provided but a quick Google search will disclose far much more. It’s probably better written as well!
This piece was a creative departure from what I was doing at the time. Occasionally it’s helpful to stretch the muscles of the imagination and take chances. Overall it look like time well spent.
A place where you’re never told to sit in the corner.
A while back I was reviewing a series of photographs to select which were worth keeping. It goes without saying, usually, that a high percentage of pictures end up getting tossed. I’ll occasionally hang on to those which fall under the “maybe” category but eventually the decision has to be made.
There are times when I’ll put in the effort to enhance a picture just to provide extra emphasis. In most cases these adjustments will be undetectable but beneficial. There are other instances when simply letting loose and trying something different never hurts.
I’m always on the lookout for new and different photographic effects just to stretch my muscles creatively. From there it’s all trial and error whether there’s any benefit to be had.
Provided here is the end result of a late night experiment with a new effect which helped save a very plain photo from obscurity.
Seems almost a waste to simply eat and enjoy our recent Valentines Day dinner. Why not seize the opportunity and take a few quick photos before it’s all gone?
Perhaps it was boredom or the need to simply be up to no good but today was the ideal time to explore a little shameless Instagram self-promotion. There’s no way I’m going to pay them or anyone else for efforts that would result in marginal results at best. Besides, I’m a Starving Artist!!
So, in an effort to inject a little extra humor into and otherwise straightforward art blog I posted the following…
Attention: I need to reach 10k followers in 48 hours or they send me back to the salt mines just outside of Narnia. This time they may not be kidding!
In the meantime, here’s a painting-

It’s been roughly three hours so far and I’ve accumulated 23 “likes” but, alas, no new followers. Guess I’d better get used to creating abstract art in that Salt Mine!
