The Walk Home

After completing the evening’s task there’s a time that allows for thought and introspection; the walk home,

While the journey is relatively short it is a valued quiet time where anyone can feel a little more at peace and focus on whatever they choose. Occasionally stopping for a quick photograph is always within reason provided the subject sparks the imagination.

We all could likely make good use of a little more exercise as well so there’s the chance to do so by leaving the car at home in the first place.

So it’s safe to say that, along with everything else, I was able to have some time to myself for a little physical and mental well-being.

2nd Dose!

With yesterday’s administration of a 2nd vaccine shot it’s safe to say we’re doing our part in the recovery. Still living in a state of heightened quarantine due to ongoing caregiver duties but it’s all worth it.

Good to see some restrictions being cautiously lifted provided everyone conducts themselves in a responsible manner. Only time will tell.

Until news arrives to do otherwise the masks stay in place and basic distancing guidelines are the rule of the day. Such a minor inconvenience considering all the good it will do for so many in the long run.

Done!

I have hereby had my first of two vaccine shots. The whole appointment was uneventful and rather dull but at least it was on-time.

Still have to follow guidelines until everyone is far enough out of the pandemic woods but at least it’s a step forward. Only been 2 hours since the injection so now’s the time to see if there’s any discomfort or fatigue. Time will tell.

Personally I’m looking forward to participating in live gallery shows with an attending public once again!

A little something to symbolize our coming freedom!

Vaccine Time Approaches…

Just passing time as the last hours count down to the first vaccination shot. For some reason I was a little apprehensive last night; like a child who has to go for their very first shot at the doctor’s office. Now I’m more bored than anything else as there’s very little to do now and best not schedule anything major afterwards.

Progress!

Not at all art related but tomorrow I’ll be receiving the first of two vaccination shots. Sure, precautions are still going to be followed to the letter but I’m not going to complain about progress.

Out of respect for all here I pledge to try not to cry during the actual injection. At least I’ll try.

Proof Positive! (almost)

Yesterday’s trip to Edwards Gardens was a resounding success with all the sunshine, fresh air and photographs taken. Some claim that the location is quite small compared to counterparts throughout other parts of the world but I’ll take this local attraction any afternoon of the week.

It was odd roaming about as in recent months, since late 2020, I’ve lost just over a quarter of my overall body weight. Not entirely used to long excursions so the energy level was pushed and I’ll definitely have to do much more during the summer.

So, without further delay, here’s the “proof” of my Sunday activities…

Near Miss

Some may recall from some time ago when there was the mention of my volunteer work helping care for an older couple. Setting aside our own extreme quarantine measures to keep them health there hasn’t been much of a hardship at all.

Then there was yesterday when a serious medical episode occurred and an ambulance had to be summoned. Fortunately everyone functioned like a finely tuned machine and everything, including the trip to the hospital, went without a hitch.

I can proudly say that as of this hour everyone is doing well and still COVID-19 free. It’s a tribute to common sense and rational efficient action.

Now comes my confession: while medical personnel were in the house providing much needed care I stayed well out of their way. For a minute during this time I “may” have pulled out my iPhone and snapped a photo or two of the equipment left in the open by the front door. Perhaps I needed a temporary break from the stress of the situation or likely sometimes I have the attention span of a toddler.

Provided here is the final result after several bouts through Photoshop.

Oh, the Irony!

Those unfortunate enough to be swallowed in by the endless grumblings of those on social media whining and moaning about how lockdowns and other public health precautions have absolutely ruined their social lives may not be entirely surprised by all this.

It’s not all the measures in place to preserve health and life that’s ever had me concerned. It’s when finally restriction start to lift and those same complainers gather in bars and restaurants to compare with friends who truly had it worse. Perhaps they’ll feel deserving of a Medal of Valor.

What we’ll never hear about are the countless numbers of people who’s own lives have been barely touched by the pandemic. The people who pass through life without a single phone call or invitation to coffee for not only years but decades on end. The people pushed aside for no other reason than it’s accepted in society to do so. They are, in short, disposable.

Provided these same people serve some kind of financial benefit to someone else then they’re allowed to keep passing through unnoticed.

But when everyone is eventually out and jovial having been freed from lockdowns and extensive precautions there will always be a good number of people who will not be sharing in the celebrations and elation. They won’t be seen at any parties or cookouts: they weren’t invited.

Such is life for those deemed disposable.

But hey, let’s just end this with a fun happy picture to keep everyone entertained..,
