2nd Dose!

With yesterday’s administration of a 2nd vaccine shot it’s safe to say we’re doing our part in the recovery. Still living in a state of heightened quarantine due to ongoing caregiver duties but it’s all worth it.

Good to see some restrictions being cautiously lifted provided everyone conducts themselves in a responsible manner. Only time will tell.

Until news arrives to do otherwise the masks stay in place and basic distancing guidelines are the rule of the day. Such a minor inconvenience considering all the good it will do for so many in the long run.

Let The Games Begin!!

Perhaps I’m jumping ahead of myself using that title. My enthusiasm comes from having everything set up and ready for painting tomorrow, all other tasks out of the way and weather conditions predicted that couldn’t be better.

There are a couple of creative ideas rolling around that I’m eager to try so all tools and materials are at the ready.

If my brain is even half functioning by the end of day tomorrow I’ll provide progress photos as proof that the day wasn’t wasted eating nachos and watching realty TV.

Ready and waiting for tomorrow’s first light.

Rolling Up The Sleeves

Sometimes investing a little time today can reap benefits for a long time to come. When you’re sure of the rewards to come it makes the initial effort so much easier to carry out. The past couple of days have been just such a case.

While conditions were certainly ideal for artistic pursuits there were matters which required immediate attention so priorities had to be addressed. Fortunately the hours of manual labour applied means an easier time for many months to come. It was time well spent.

Tasks were carried out and completed successfully with a little time left to prepare the room where summer painting is optimal. During the colder months it reverts back into a basically unremarkable living space. Such a preparation effort can be therapeutic when transitioning into full painting mode. With a few more touches in the morning everything will be complete and my own brand of creative chaos can begin.

Let the games begin…

Just one of the nasty characters which had to be dealt with decisively.

Done!

I have hereby had my first of two vaccine shots. The whole appointment was uneventful and rather dull but at least it was on-time.

Still have to follow guidelines until everyone is far enough out of the pandemic woods but at least it’s a step forward. Only been 2 hours since the injection so now’s the time to see if there’s any discomfort or fatigue. Time will tell.

Personally I’m looking forward to participating in live gallery shows with an attending public once again!

A little something to symbolize our coming freedom!

Progress!

Not at all art related but tomorrow I’ll be receiving the first of two vaccination shots. Sure, precautions are still going to be followed to the letter but I’m not going to complain about progress.

Out of respect for all here I pledge to try not to cry during the actual injection. At least I’ll try.

Saturday Art

Managed to make use of the ideal conditions today by making progress on the latest piece. It’s tempting to declare the work finished but such a statement can come back to bite anyone.

But here goes nothing anyways…

Acceptance

Even with a rejection rate well over 90% it seems my art efforts are occasionally experiencing better rewards than most other aspects of life.

Day 3 – Bah Humbug

Seems the tranquil dawn of the day was short-lived as soon the wind picked up and fast moving clouds took over. Before the painting day could start it was over. Sometimes the temperature is favourable but all the other variables fall apart. However, if I’m going to enjoy a couple of productive days this is an inconvenience I can roll with.

Between the rain storm and other non- painting difficulties production of anything wasn’t going to happen. When presented with moments like this I like to get things done that will make the next painting day even better. It can be creatively or productivity or both.

Sometimes you get to collect the eggs and other times you have to care for the chickens.

Live: From The Driveway!

That’s right, painting has officially started. While cooler this morning the weather cooperated enough to allow work to start about 90 minutes ago. Just a short post for now and a sample of what this season will bring!

Grr…

Seems keeping an eye on the weather forecast during the days prior to outdoor painting has proven valuable once again.

The originally unseasonably warm temperatures scheduled for this afternoon have been downgraded considerably; roughly half of the estimate only 48 hours ago. If this proves to be the case then all outdoor artistic efforts will have to wait for Wednesday. Experience has show that cooler temperatures are not friendly to paint or it’s ability to adhere.

Even the best laid plans have to be adjusted and improvisation is needed. I’ll have to wait several more hours to see what unfolds and act accordingly. At least everything is prepared and thought through so there’s less chance of a rage post from this artist over the next day or so.

All will remain in a holding pattern until nature gives her approval to commence full speed.
